Seno Ensemble: The premiere of a new music and performance ensemble, produced by Punctum and presented as part of Castlemaine State Festival's 2026 program.
The Seno Ensemble invites audiences into a vibrant sound world where tradition and innovation meet. Drawing inspiration from Indonesia’s rich musical heritage, the ensemble creates a sonic journey wrapping audiences in intricate rhythms, shimmering textures, and lyrical melodies. Their performance captures both the meditative stillness of gamelan-inspired textures and the dynamic pulse of contemporary world music. It is a rare space where ancient soundscapes speak afresh.
Founded and led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Aryo Hall through his participation in Punctum and Australian Art Orchestra’s mentored intensives and Sonix Series Concerts, the ensemble brings together a diverse group of performers who share a passion for exploring intercultural dialogue through music. Featuring Aryo Hall, Zoë Barry, Justin Marshall and Kirri Büchler, the result is a collective sonic tapestry rich in new musical languages and textures.
